Kevin's postdoctoral work with fungi resident in the guts of large mammalian herbivores was released in Science earlier today. These primitive microbes are adept at breaking down plant material and may be key to the development of economical biofuels. Among their many tricks are a set of unique chemistries which we intend to pursue here at Purdue. This work is featured in the popular press at sites such as BBC News, Phys.org and Science 2.0.
